Downton Abbey made it look like breakfast in bed and a bell for the maid. Here's what it's actually like, hour by hour, in a 300-year-old French castle with no staff but us.

You're too kind about the ponytail! And I like the French-looking reframe. I think I'll go with that from now on. As for the meals, in California we had a lot more takeout, and we also had avocado all year long! We typically ate at our coffee table because our apartment wasn't really big enough for a dining table. We still have delicious meals cooked by Sean, but they were a lot faster and we just didn't appreciate or pay as much attention to our food then. Here, Sean cooks nearly everything from scratch and we actually sit down together. And everything we eat is in season, because that's just what's available in France.
That's high praise, boo! Fewer scandals than Downton for sure (nobody has yet to die in my bed). But more chicken sandwiches. Should we watch a few episodes when you come to visit?
We've had wild swings this year, roasting one week and soaked the next. And these photos were taken during different months, since I don't happen to capture our daily activities every day! So the green in some images is a bit deceptive. Hope Oxford gets a proper drink of rain soon. I know we all need one right now.
The term Founding Father Ponytail made me giggle!! I so enjoyed your day in the life. You're an excellent storyteller, Kamille. So glad you have the portable air conditioner. The hum of an airconditioner is the perfect background white noise.

I can't believe that the grass is green and there are puddles on the track. No rain to speak of here for months (Oxford).
