"Show up anyway" -- I LOVE THIS! And of course what comes with that is eating and awkwardness and wine. Same thing for me in Spain. Funny, I didn't drink at all before I moved here...
This is so humbling and beautiful. It makes me want to reconsider moving to Italy and move to France instead. I feel like I am there with you experiencing all of the lovely awkwardness together.
Building a community from scratch in a new country in a language you don't fully understand is a flex 💪 I am in the same situation, but I'd say people in Germany are a little more to themselves in comparison to your French neighbors. I wonder if it's the village? We live in a big city and maybe people tend to not be so open and chatty with new comers. In any case, yay you! 3 months and you already have such a strong foundation! It's definitely a lot of work and energy on your part, so well done!

Yes, Yulia, Germans are different, and city people quite more different from village dwellers. (I am German)
So far I’ve only met the city folks! Would love to venture out and meet more people in the country side one day!
